THE PROBLEM

Multilingual screening is the most broken part of recruiting.

Hiring bilingual frontline staff, multilingual support reps, or international remote engineers means you need to assess language fluency AND job skills in the candidate's strongest language. Most ATSes can't do this. Most recruiters can't either.

So the workaround is a BPO: $15–25 per multilingual screen, a 7–10 day turnaround, and a different interviewer for every language — which means a different rubric for every language, even when the role is the same.

Your candidate in Manila gets a different screen than your candidate in Mexico City. Your scoring isn't comparable. And nobody can audit it.

THE FIX

Interview in their language. Score against your rubric. Audit everything.

  • Conduct phone interviews in 50+ languages, natively — not translated, not subtitled
  • Auto-detect candidate's strongest language and switch mid-call if needed
  • Score every call against your English-language rubric with cross-language consistency
  • Transcripts delivered in both source language and English translation
  • Per-call cost identical across all 50+ languages — no surcharge for non-English
  • Bias audit (NYC LL 144) runs across language cohorts to detect fairness drift

THE PROCESS

What a multilingual hiring cycle looks like.

  1. STEP 01
    Candidate applies in any language

Application form, SMS, or web-form. We detect preferred language from application metadata.

  2. STEP 02
Alia calls in their strongest language

Native delivery — Spanish to a Mexico City candidate, Tagalog to a Manila candidate, no awkward translation.

  3. STEP 03
    Real-time language switching

Candidate can switch languages mid-call. Alia follows. The rubric stays constant.

  4. STEP 04
    Bilingual transcript + unified score

Source-language transcript, English translation, and rubric score — all in your ATS within 5 minutes.

FAQ

Questions we get every week.

Which languages does Alia speak natively?

50+ languages with native fluency including Spanish (LatAm + Castilian), Brazilian Portuguese, Tagalog, Mandarin (Simplified + Traditional), Cantonese, Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Arabic (MSA + regional dialects), French, German, Italian, Polish, Russian, Turkish, Indonesian, Thai, Swahili, and more. Full list available on request.

How accurate is cross-language scoring?

We score every call against your rubric using a multilingual model trained specifically for hiring assessment. Internal evaluation shows <5% scoring variance between an English-speaking candidate and a Spanish-speaking candidate with equivalent qualifications. We also run a monthly cross-language fairness audit and ship the report.

What if the candidate is bilingual and switches mid-call?

Alia follows. Mid-call language switching is a first-class feature — common in border markets, BPO interviews, and roles where bilingual fluency is itself being assessed. The rubric and scoring stay constant.

Do you handle dialects?

Yes. Regional Spanish (Mexico, Argentina, Spain, Caribbean), Arabic (MSA + Egyptian, Levantine, Gulf), Chinese (Mandarin + Cantonese), and English (US, UK, Indian, Filipino, Caribbean) all have dedicated voice models. The dialect adapts to the candidate.

Is this NYC LL 144 compliant in multilingual scenarios?

Yes. The bias audit framework was built with multilingual scoring in mind. We test for disparate impact not just across protected classes but also across language cohorts, and we publish the audit report annually.
